The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI): UNFPA Caribbean and partners meet with CGI stakeholders on regional health issues

 

On 24 July, a Caribbean delegation led by UNFPA’s Acting Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem, met with President Bill Clinton and other stakeholders in New York to discuss priority areas in the region such as the following: teenage pregnancies, violence against women, human trafficking of women and girls, reduction of cervical cancer and elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV.

Members of the Caribbean delegation included the following:

- Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis: Sir Timothy Harris

- First Lady of Guyana: Lady Sandra Granger

 - First Lady of Jamaica: Mrs Juliet Holness

- UNFPA Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean: Ms Sheila Roseau

- UNFPA Director of the Sub-regional Office for the Caribbean: Ms Alison Drayton

- UNFPA Regional HIV Specialist: Mr Marvin Gunter

- CARICOM Co-ordinator for Health and Human Development: Ms Beverly Reynolds

- HIV Specialist of the Planning Institute of Jamaica: Ms Denese McFarlane
