In a stride towards enhancing midwifery education in Suriname, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has recently provided the Central Training for Midwives Suriname with essential Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment. This provision marks a pivotal moment in the advancement of reproductive healthcare systems in the country, addressing critical gaps in training and ensuring continuity even amidst logistical challenges.

The ICT equipment facilitates remote teaching, enabling instructors and specialists to conduct classes from any location. This breakthrough not only expands the pool of available teachers but also mitigates disruptions that may arise due to teacher unavailability. By leveraging technology, the Central Training for Midwives can now maintain the integrity and consistency of its curriculum, empowering aspiring midwives with comprehensive education regardless of geographical constraints.

UNFPA's longstanding commitment to supporting midwifery education in Suriname underscores its dedication to strengthening reproductive health systems. Beyond equipment provision, UNFPA has been actively involved in training initiatives, fostering a skilled workforce capable of delivering high-quality maternal and newborn care across the nation. Through collaborative efforts with local partners, UNFPA continues to play a vital role in nurturing a resilient healthcare infrastructure that prioritizes the well-being of mothers and infants.

The handover of ICT equipment signifies a renewed investment in the future of midwifery in Suriname, underscoring UNFPA's unwavering commitment to advancing reproductive health and empowering healthcare professionals.
