calendar_today 26 February 2013

UNFPA, The United Nations Population Fund has collaborated with OCM Productions to produce an exciting and innovative television programme Healthy You that explores a range of common health conditions that afflict and affect Jamaicans. Topics covered include: Adolescent/Teen pregnancy, cervical and prostate cancer, sexually transmitted infections including HIV and AIDS, gender based violence, diabetes, obesity among others.

The programme seeks to provide Jamaicans with important information and an insight into the lives of persons affected through testimonials. The aim is to improve people’s understanding of the various conditions and to inspire them to take action to safeguard their own health.

A concerted effort is made in each episode to not only describe the symptoms of the illness or condition but also to point persons in the direction where help is available. Family physician, Caren Griffith-Fadlin is also on hand to answer specific questions posed by members of the public in the Question and Answer segment.

The programme will air in four seasons on Television Jamaica (TVJ) on Sundays at 5:30 pm with re-broadcasts on Tuesdays at 9:00am. Season one ran from November 2012 to February 2013. Season two is scheduled to begin on April 21.
