Deputy Permanent Secretary Trevor Thomas receives family planning items from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Patrice La Fleur

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFP) has donated an assortment of family planning items including male and female condoms and emergency contraceptives to the Ministry of Health’s, Maternal and Child Health Department.
UNFPA Assistant Representative, Patrice La Fleur presented the items to the Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, Trevor Thomas.

            The UNFPA’s donation is part of the organisation’s partnership with government, and other agencies and civil groups to advance its mission of promoting reproductive rights and reducing maternal mortality.

            Mr. Thomas said that the UNFPA has been more than just a partner to Government and the Ministry of Health and welcomed the agency’s very supportive role to the ministry. Expressing his profound appreciation for the items, Thomas committed that they will be prudently used to promote family planning-to ensure men and women have the necessities to enable them plan their families and stay free from sexually transmitted infections.
