On Wednesday 16 November 2022, UNFPA handed over a donation of dignity kits to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago Office of the Prime Minister, Gender and Child Affairs Division and the National AIDS Coordinating Committee (NACC) for women and girls of the Woodland Community. Trinidad and Tobago was severely impacted by climate - related flooding during the month of November impacting over 20 communities in Trinidad and Tobago and over 100,000 people affected, leaving several trapped in their homes due to flooding.
Dignity Kits are more than hygiene kits, they help enhance women and girl’s safety, health, and comfort in ways that contribute to women and girls’ resilience and survival during times of crisis, their psychosocial and physical well-being, personal hygiene, as well as their protection
UNFPA is presently partnering with the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society, Office of the Prime Minister, National AIDS Coordinating Committee and Gender and Child Affairs to address sexual and reproductive health and gender based violence in emergencies.
Dignity Kits help women and girls maintain proper hygiene after being displaced and are a critical component of the UNFPA humanitarian response.
