SWOP2018 Report Launch in JAMAICA: State of the World Population - Reproductive Rights and the Demographic Transition

UNFPA’s 2018 State of the World Population Report was officially launched in partnership with the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) on the 8th of November, at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston. Ms. Alison Drayton, Director and Representative of the UNFPA Sub-Regional for the Caribbean delivered opening remarks alongside Dr. Wayne Henry, Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica.

Jahnice Solomon from the Holy Trinity High School did a beautiful rendition of the song “I am Somebody”, on behalf of the AHF Jamaica. The keynote address was delivered by the Most Honourable Juliet Holness, Wife of the Prime Minister of Jamaica and Champion for the Caribbean Woman, Caribbean Child (CARIWAC) Initiative in Jamaica. Mr. Seth Broekman, UNFPA Caribbean's Deputy Director, shared a presentation of the SWOP 2018 report before the official handover to our partners and stakeholders.

Ms. Vilma Gregory, UNFPA Caribbean's Advocacy and Communications Consultant moderated the session. Exhibits were mounted by the National Family Planning Board, Women's Centre of Jamaica Foundation, Women's Health Network Jamaica, Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ)| and the AHF Jamaica.
