On the 10th of January 2019, the UNFPA Suriname Liaison Office facilitated the presentation of the 2018 State of the World Population Report, highlighting that choices or the lack thereof impact the fertility rate of a country and influence its development. The SWOP launch was done in collaboration with the Small Grants Program of UNOPS, under the auspices of the Ministry of Community Development and Home Affairs. The action plan of the draft Population Policy was also presented to a few of the line ministries.

 

The Minister of Home Affairs H.E. Mr. Mike M.F. Noersalim handed over copies of the #SWOP2018 Report to the following key partners: The Minister of Education, Science and Culture, H.E. Mrs. Lilian Ferrier, the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, H.E.Mrs. Lalini Gopal, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, H.E. Mr. Stephen Tsang, the Vice-Chair of the National Assembly of Suriname, Mr. Melvin Bouva.
