The Jamaica Observer reported on October 13 in an article entitled: UN secretary general calls on world to empower girls that girls were the focus of a high level panel discussion at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Thursday where UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and Girls Not Brides, focused on ways to end child marriage. The article also mentioned a public forum put on the the UNFPA sub-regional office for the caribbean to mark the day.
