International recording artistes Tanya Stephens and Taurrus Riley joined young performers from The Ashe Company and The Company Dance Theatre on the 9th March 2020 as they performed and shared messages in support of the Spotlight Initiative. The European Union and the United Nations have embarked on a new, global, multi-year initiative focused on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). It is the world’s largest targeted effort to end all forms of violence against women and girls and has been launched with a seed funding commitment of €500 million from the European Union. The Initiative is so named as it brings focused attention to this issue, moving it into the spotlight and placing it at the centre of efforts to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
