GUYANA: UNFPA Caribbean Director Alison Drayton challenges CARICOM To Leave No One Behind

UNFPA Caribbean Director, Alison Drayton has appealed to all members of CARICOM To Leave No One Behind. She was speaking on behalf of the UN Country Team (UNCT) on 23 July 2019 at the 10th General Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Associated Institutions. The meeting took place at the CARICOM Secretariat and was organized in collaboration with the UNCT in Georgetown, Guyana.   

Director Drayton congratulated the region on the progress being made in the following areas: high education completion rates, increases in employment rates and a gradual decline in neonatal, child and maternal mortality. However, she lamented the fact that gender inequality and gender discrimination continue to adversely impact regional efforts at sustainable development, with negative consequences for women and girls
