The launch of the INDIA – UN Development Partnership Fund Project entitled “REDUCING ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY IN GUYANA” took place on the 7th of June, 2019 at the Sophia Exhibition Centre in Guyana. The UNFPA Sub-Regional Office for Caribbean will act as the executing agency for the programme which targets adolescents aged 10 to 19 in Region 1 (Barima - Waini) and Region 9 (Upper Takutu - Upper Essequibo) which are two rural regions in Guyana. The country has one of the highest rates of adolescent pregnancy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
