On June 24, 2014, Director UNFPA Sub-regional Office for the Caribbean Sheila Roseau paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Lisa Hanna Minister of Youth and Culture. They discussed opportunities for strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and UNFPA to ensure adolescent and youth development especially within the context of UNFPA’s heightened focus on adolescents and youth in keeping with its 2014-2017 Strategic Plan. They also discussed the upcoming observance of World Population Day July 11 under the theme “Investing in Young People,”  preparatory activities for the Third International Conference on the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) scheduled to take place in Apia, Samoa, September 1 - 4, 2014 and plans to host a second High Level meeting on the reduction of adolescent pregnancy in the Caribbean later this year.
