Humanitarian response to Dominica: Portsmouth Women’s Friendly Spaces gain access to SRH information & new digital skills

The UNFPA Caribbean -supported Women’s Friendly Spaces NGO which is located in Portsmouth was a buzz of activity on Saturday, 26 May 2018. Women, children and members of the community enjoyed an interactive SRH session, delivered by an animated Julie Frampton who is a family nurse practitioner. A hair braiding demonstration was also done as an income-earning option for women. The Portsmouth community members also participated in a hands-on session on digital media skills with Vilma Gregory, our Advocacy and Communications Consultant and gained exposure to the operations of a drone for image and video capture. The fun-filled day ended with demonstrations of the use of the digital sewing machines which UNFPA has contributed to the centre along with laptops and printers. This is part of our post-hurricane capacity building efforts in Dominica.
