 This project is part of a larger programme of cooperation between the UNFPA and the European Commission (EC) on sexual and reproductive health in selected countries of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Regions. It is consistent with global SRH objectives. A policy shift since the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), ICPD +5, and several other international conferences resulted in an emerging international consensus, as reflected also throughout the Millennium Development Goals, that improving sexual and reproductive health policies, programmes and services were key to reducing poverty and promoting sustainable development.
