Suriname’s Youth Information Fair 2017 took place on August 3 – 4 in Nickerie. Students and teachers interacted on key issues regarding Gender, Population Development and ASRHR.

The teachers showered praises on the YAGees for educating others about ASRHR and requested the YAGees to come to Nickerie more often to visit the schools while they are in session. The YAGees are making an impact on teenagers as they provide them with the right information about their Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.

On the second day of the fair Ms. Judith Brielle, Liaison Officer of UNFPA Suriname delivered an interactive presentation on Sustainable Development Goals, with excellent feedback from the many students and teachers in attendance.

On 5 August, the YAGees also visited a home where several children between the age of 10 & 16 now reside. The children are from different parts of the country, including the interior. Youngsters at the home were also informed about ASRHR, Gender and the YAGees delivered an empowerment session about studying and working hard to achieve your goals, with positive feedback from the children.
